Emerald Care

Foot Care Program

A little history about the foot care program:

The Foot Care Program was initially started in 1986 with Mildred Schroeder, RN. Mildred recruited volunteers Ella Moss and later Liz Traner, RN. The focus of the program was to provide easy access to foot care for local senior citizens. Previously this service was sponsored by the Yakima County Health District and was located at the Presbyterian Church in Wapato. Margie Hayes, LPN, Silvia Ovalie, NAC, Becky Anderson, and our Licensed Beautician continue to help with the Foot Care Program now being held at Emerald Care.

Current Home Of The Foot Care Program:

We believe that taking care of feet from soaking to trimming nails may seem simple and insignificant, but in fact has saved many individuals from painful skin/nail problems as well as amputations and major surgeries, later in life. There is an incredible need for nail/foot care among the elderly. Early assessment and screening can be a tool for those at risk so they should be followed closely by their physician.

The Foot Care Clinic is offered every second Monday of the month 9:00am to noon. For more information and appointments call - 509-877-3175
